iShares ETFs offers more than 180 ETFs focusing on a variety of stock and bond markets worldwide

iShares ETFs is the largest ETF provider in the world and offers over 180 Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) which track a multitude of stock and bond markets worldwide, including the London Stock Exchange, American Stock Exchange, Hong Kong Stock Exchange, New York Stock Exchange, and the Australian Securities Exchange.

iShares was originally founded in 1993 as the World Equity Benchmark Shares (WEBS) by Morgan Stanley and Barclays Global Investors and tracked the MSCI foreign stock indices.  In 2000, Barclays released a slew of new funds under the “iShares” name in an effort to boost ETFs as a viable product in the market place.  iShares was later bought by BlackRock on June 11th, 2009, as apart of BlackRock acquiring the entire parent division of Barclay’s Global Investors.
